Dr. Peter Driscoll, Environmental Engineer

Peter joined the consultancy in February 2008.  He completed his Bachelor of Engineering - Environmental - Honours Class 2A in 2002. He also has additional qualifications which include a Bachelor of Science and a PhD of Philosophy in Zoology.  He has been involved in the design and licensing of wastewater treatment and water recycling infrastructure, primarily for Townsville City Council and as a consultant with John Wilson and Partners. His professional experience includes:

  • work on pump station and treatment plant designs around Mackay;
  • hydraulics, hydrology, wastewater processes, environmental auditing and licensing of ERAs;
  • investigated groundwater quality and dynamics on Bribie Island; and,
  • the use of GPS software and a range of engineering models dealing with open channel flows (HECRAS), irrigation (MEDLI), sewage (SewerCAD) and piped water (WaterGEMS).

Wayne Parfitt, Project Manager/Inspector

Wayne joined the consultancy in August 2008 and is currently the Manager of our Hughenden office, and our on-site representative for Hughenden Sewerage Scheme. He has close to 30 years experience in the construction industry. He has been involved in a diverse range of projects throughout Central and North Queensland, Papua New Guinea, Cambodia and Fiji. He has gained additional qualifications, which include: registered builders license - Commercial and Domestic, Completed Building Inspections. He is also a member of the Qld Master Builders, IBC Institute of Building Consultants and Institute of Building Surveyors. His professional experience includes:

  • Building inspections after damage from Cyclone Larry;
  • Pre-purchase inspections - from houses to shopping complexes and major resorts;
  • Site inspector for Cairns Airport Projects;
  • Superintendents Representative for Cardno MBK (Qld) Pty Ltd, Connell Wagner and Burke Shire Council;
  • Share holder, Manager and Civil Manager for Pangai Constructions and involved in projects in Port Moresby, Fiji and Cambodia; and,
  • Share holder and Manager for Parro Industries and Constructions, Rabaul.

Stuart Head, Engineer/Project Manager

Stuart joined the consultancy in July 2007. He completed his Bachelor of Engineering - civil in 1988. He has had 19 years experience in the industry in a diverse range of civil and building projects throughout Australia and the Pacific Region. He has gained additional qualifications which include: a builder's license - low rise; Quality Assurance Application methods; and, Occupational Health and Safety and Environment for managers. His professional experience includes:

  • Project engineering services for pipeline construction;
  • Area manager Boral construction materials - concrete and quarries;
  • General/operations manager of CDS technologies;
  • Senior projects engineer for Abigroup management & consultancy services (involved in management of civil works with south bank interchange of City Link project in south Melbourne); and,
  • General Manager Minson constructions Pty Ltd - Minson, Fiji.

Mitch Burchett, Senior Design Technician

Mitch joined the consultancy in May 2008. He has seventeen years experience in the building sector with fifteen years experience using AutoCAD. His professional experience includes:

  • Commercial, industrial and residential developments from initial inception through to project completion;
  • Structural, architectural, mechanical, shop fabrication, civil construction - stormwater and sewer, structural steel, 3D modeling and presentation; and,
  • He is proficient in the use of ProSteel 3D®

Robert Platt, Senior Draftsman

Robert joined the consultancy in January 2007. He has had nearly 30 years drafting experience, finishing his cadetship in 1979. His professional experience includes:

  • Drafting on AutoCAD for structural, civil, mechanical, electrical and architectural designs;
  • Project building supervision (including RAAF Townsville, Lavarack Barracks Townsville, Medical School, James Cook University, Townsville and major tilt panels);
  • Tilt panel design; and,
  • Shop drawings.

Christian Matheson, Graduate Engineer

Christian joined the consultancy in December 2007 after completing his Bachelor of Engineering(Civil). His experience includes:

  • Design of the new Cape Bowling Green Lighthouse base structure. Including the effects of corrosion caused by the close proximity to the sea and the effects of wind induced fatigue;
  • The design of industrial portal frame structures in both cyclonic and non-cyclonic regions. Gantry rail design for the use of cranes;
  • Various designs of mining structures at Osbourne, Xstrata and Cannington mines. Structures include conveyor trestle design, dump pocket redesign, rom wall design, and primary crushing stations;
  • Inspection and design works for the ATSIP James Cook University Tropical Science and Innovation Project
  • A large amount of work completed in residential housing development for new houses and renovations to existing;
  • Involvement with heritage structures, including the restoration of St. James Cathedral Bell Tower (Townsville), and developments along side Victoria Bridge (Townsville); and,
  • Design of Manholes and access pits to resist vehicular loading.

Tyrone Strong, Cadet Drafter

Tyrone started his cadetship in January 2009. He is also studying the Associate Degree in Civil Engineering while working full-time.
